Christy Snow

About Christy

Christy is a North Carolina native whose talents are now being enjoyed all over the world, due in part to her coast-to-coast touring, the national and international airplay, and the worldwide distribution of her music. She has produced and independently released three CDs of her acoustic-driven, life-embracing and thought-provoking music. Her CDs have received praise for her lyrics that encourage you to think and feel and open you up to laugh, love, and enjoy life. In the words of Les Reynolds of Indie-Music.com, "This North Carolina singer-songwriter is one you could listen to all day...rich, comfortable yet forceful vocals, fluid and sometimes percussive acoustic guitar...Christy could change the world with her songs."

Once Christy graduated with her degree in Marking, it wasn’t long before she realized that performing music is how she really wanted to be spending her time. So, she began performing and recording, that was in 1991. In 1996 she decided to at least try Corporate America, since her family seemed so sure she would love it. She tried to love if for three years and though she did enjoy the challenge and the promotions one day in 1999 she felt a familiar feeling, that she was sure being a singer/songwriter was her path. That was shortly after the release of her second CD “Solid Ground”. Christy has been performing music full time ever since. In 2000 she released her first live CD “Awake & Alive” which gives the listener a peek into Christy’s captivating live shows.

Several things began to shift for Christy and her music in 1999. Her soul searching began to show in her songwriting with songs like “Save Yourself”…“The answers are there if we can stand the scare of the questions we wish to ask.” Musically things began to shift as well; Christy had learned to play the harmonica and was accompanying herself with moody harmonica rifts. Her most recent instrumental addition has been the Native American Flute, an instrument that adds even more depth and echoes of her soul.

You are sure to hear about her Southern Baptist upbringing as well as her current beliefs that all of us on this planet are equal, worthy and loved and that the answers we seek to life’s questions are already within us. Her current beliefs are a mixture she often refers to as New Thought-Pagan-Native American-Buddhist, which probably has something to do with why her music is sort of Spiritual-Folk-Pop-Rock-Americana. You can just call it “Good” for short.

Reviews

"Snow's fluid guitar and powerful vocals stand out. Christy, a North Carolina native, sounds, to me, like a southern Ani DiFranco. However, her voice has more range and is more powerful and Christy is more prone to turn a positive message than Ani. Christy also accompanies herself with a bluesy harmonica and has recently added the Native American Flute, which is a welcome change of sound. Her Folk/Pop music always has a message. "Taking Back My Life" is a song she wrote for women who have been abused. "Safe" is autobiographical in the way that she finally quit her day job and ventured onto the road as a full-time singer/songwriter. "Ready to Believe" is an upbeat number about maintaining a positive attitude and simply "expecting" good things to happen. A good start for a new Christy Snow fan would be her "Awake and Alive" album, her most recent live collection. "

"Well, she stands out, combining acoustic guitar with soulful harmonica... and lyrics that will knock your socks off."

Carrie Hamblen/KRWG Las Cruces, NM

"She's good, really good. And she does all this through a voice combining the qualities of KD Lang and Natalie Merchant (yes, that's right, and it works!) This North Carolina singer-songwriter is one you could listen to all day. Instrumentally, Christy's second CD… is solid and acoustic driven. Lyrically, it's excellent."
