So did that get you interested?
Well, read on…

A graduate of the famed Hollywood High School, Karen moved to San Francisco in 1978 to study acting and music. One of her first jobs was to produce, host and perform on “Showcase 11,” a weekly variety show that won her the National Cable Ace Award for “Best New Series”. She also had an opportunity to work with The Manhattan Transfer and Jim Messina when she was hired to collaborate on the soundtrack for the George Lucas/John Korty film, “Twice Upon A Time”. Her original songs have earned her various writing awards, heavy rotation on Bay Area radio stations and billing on such illustrious marquees as The Great American Music Hall, The Boarding House and The Warfield Theater. She has also opened for many top acts including Tammy Wynette, Jesse Cohn Young, Dana Carvey and Bob Sarlotte.

Karen has completed four albums of original material. The first two albums are a collection of pop, blues and jazz, while the last two have focused on inspirational messages and songs of healing. “Songs Of The Spirit”, an inspirational chanting and sing-a-long CD, has been well received and has been played in hospitals, women's groups and seminars. “Hold On To Love” is the latest CD and features a creative collaboration between Karen and her band showcasing her talents as a songwriter. Her songs have been called high energy and fun, as well as sensitive and heart-opening. “Heartbeats Catalog” notes in its review: “.... Karen’s songs are powerfully understated and her voice and music drive them home on a direct line to the heart and soul...”

Another aspect of her versatility is her natural talent for comedy which has landed her several national television commercials, as well as starting her own company with another musical comedienne, Lauren Mayer. Together as “Drucker & Mayer”, they perform their original comedy show in major clubs and theaters and are hired by corporations such as Hewlett Packard, IBM and Bank of America, to write and perform custom written musical comedy for their corporate events.

Since 1977, Karen has volunteered her musical services to Bread & Roses, a non-profit organization which brings free, live entertainment to people confined in institutions. She has received awards from Bread & Roses, as well as “Volunteer of the Year” from the Mann County Volunteer Center, plus many others. She started her own organization, “Artists For A Cause”, that helps organizations around the Bay Area in need by producing benefit concerts utilizing local talent. So far, Mann Abused Women’s Services, The Center for Attitudinal healing, Larkin Street Youth Services, The S.F. AIDS Center and The Avon Breast Cancer Crusade have benefited from Artists For A Cause Shows.

When she is not performing, Karen swims the frigid waters of the San Francisco Bay as a member of the Dolphin Club. A competitive swimmer since the age of six, this one-time Olympic hopeful has raced in swims from Lani to Maui, Hawaii - to Lake Tahoe, as well as the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz. In 1989, she and five other women crossed the treacherous 22 mile English Channel, setting the record as the first All-American Women’s Relay to cross the channel.

As Phil Elwood of the San Francisco Examiner said “Keep your eye on this girl - she’s got show biz ambition and talent in every direction!” ...and as Reverend Karyl Huntley, Minister of the Golden Gate Church For Spiritual Living says... “Karen is a person who has found the avenue through which to give her divine gifts and she is giving them with practiced talent and great love. We, who are on the receiving end, know how blessed we are...”
