Science of Mind® 100 Series

Science of Mind 100 covers aspects of metaphysical thought, its principles, and practices. Students develop greater self-awareness, understanding of the nature of reality, how life has a spiritual basis, and learns techniques for inner and outer transformation. Four classes, each eight weeks in length, are offered. The dates and times of each class are determined locally, by your local Center for Spiritual Living spiritual community.

SOM 100 may be taught in any combination of the following options to equal 80 hours. Any four units of 100 approved coursework may be taught to satisfy requirements.

SOM 101 – The Spiritual Path (20 hours)

SOM 102 – Spiritual Mind Treatment: The Nature of Effective Prayer (20 hours)

SOM 103 – Building a Healing Consciousness (20 hours)

SOM 104 – Principles of Successful Living (20 hours)

SOM 105U & 106U – New Foundations 2007 (10-12 weeks + SMT Workshop) – (There is a 4 week Visioning Workshop that can be used to augment Foundations 2007-105 and 106 are equivalent to two units of ICSL credit.) Foundations is the entry level course in the study of the SOM. The student is introduced to the Core Concepts of the SOM and taught how to apply these Universal Principles to his/her own life. Meditation and Spiritual Mind Treatment are taught as daily practices. The class is experiential, with many guided meditations and exercises to assist students in embracing and incorporating SOM Principles. May be broken down into two units with the minimum tuition at $110 per unit. The New Foundations 2007 (with its SMT Workshop) will satisfy two units of SOM 100.

SOM 107U – Spiritual Practices for Daily Living: Treatment and Meditation (30 hours), (A 10 week class equivalent to one unit of ICSL credit.) This class focuses on the student developing lifetime habits of meditation and Spiritual Mind Treatment. Spiritual Mind Treatment for oneself is reviewed and strengthened, and then students advance to treating for other people.

SOM 108U – Beyond Limits, (A 10 week class to be given one unit of ICSL credit.) This class explores the intuitive perceptions of Ernest Holmes and his scientific approach to the spiritual laws of the universe. It also includes PowerPoint presentations.

SOM 109U – Power of Your Word SOM, (An 8 week class equivalent to one unit of ICSL credit.)

Power of Your Word is an introduction to prayer. We learn the nature of prayer and how to pray more effectively.

Information on SOM 100: Units are to be taught in increments of not more than one lesson per week. Students may not take more than one unit at a time for credit. A student may enroll in the SOM 100 Series and SOM 200 Series for credit in any sequence and be awarded certificates accordingly. However, a student may not take SOM 100 and 200 units simultaneously for credit.

The tuition for SOM 100 is a minimum of $440 for the entire course or $110 per unit and includes a $10 recording fee, which is sent directly to ICSL Admin Services. Optional rates are allowed for spouses, review students, and high school students.

ICSL Admin Services will issue a Certificate of Completion upon the completion of SOM 100. The required attendance is 80%. Certificates of Completion must be requested from ICSL Admin Services within ninety (90) days of the student’s completion of SOM 100.
